The Bottom Line
We are a simple, non-commercial group of enthusiasts interested in firearms, self-defense, home defense, and solar energy in Indiana.
We are not experts or attorneys, nor do we establish any professional relationship or provide professional advice.
We do not sell anything, but we may accept voluntary donations and contributions to help offset the costs of maintaining this website and the content we publish.
We are based in Indiana and primarily intended for Indiana audiences; however, our content is publicly viewable worldwide.
Comments
When visitors or members leave comments on the website, we collect the data shown in the comment form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. We recommend using Gravatar, as it draws more attention to your comments and is a fun way to showcase your contributions.
We may disallow inappropriate Gravatar avatars at our sole discretion.
The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If we permit media uploads to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website. This also applies to media linked via URLs from other locations.
We may remove inappropriate media at our sole discretion.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
We may also use cookies to monitor server performance and ensure a fast, pleasant experience on our website.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly.
Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who We Share Your Data With
We generally do not share your data, except in the following cases:
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
- If we allow login via third-party services (e.g., Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc.), the necessary information is shared with them to enable login. You should review their privacy policies.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For registered users (if any), we store the personal information provided in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except your username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through automated spam detection services to reduce spam.
We do not send your data to data miners or data brokers. We do not condone the harvesting of personally identifiable information by others without consent.
If we ever publish forms or content requesting personally identifiable information, we will clearly indicate that so you can make an informed decision about participating.
